No Ordinary Sunday
"Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him"- Psalm 37:7a
No Sunday morning is average anymore. Something spectacular always happens. Over time, I have learned to become expectant on the drive into town. For me, its a 40 minute preparation of the heart. Expectant to hear God's voice. Expectant to feel His presence.
Expectant for miracles to happen. Expectant.
Words cannot express the emotion as I walk into a place knowing that the time spent in that location is the most cherished, life changing three or four hours of my week. If I allow my heart, soul, and mind to be real with the Lord, my entire being changes. I never leave the Lord's House with the same heart I had when I walked through the door.
There is something to be said about multiple hearts coming in line with the Lord's will, together, as brothers and sisters in Christ. Together we are united as the body of Christ.
"...for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God's son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ's fullness." - Ephesians 4:12-13
No greater power exists on earth than that of an expectant congregation tapping into the wisdom of the Holy Spirit on a Sunday morning. The eager expectancy from earlier in the morning on the drive, turns into reality. We hear God's voice. We feel His presence.
Miracles happen. God's Glory Revealed.
The goosebumps. The butterflies in my stomach. The visions. The direction. The miracles.
Have you found a community that stokes the fire within you? How about somewhere that has gently blown on the embers within your soul? A place where you can go to meet with the Lord? A place to come in line with His will for you? Felt the goosebumps, the butterflies of the Holy Spirit resting on your soul?
Brothers and sisters, if there is a feeling of emptiness in your life, no zest for tomorrow-stop looking in the bottle, the workload, the busyness of today. Stop looking to outlandish spending habits that continue to break you down. Stop looking to the sugar high that only crashes 30 minutes later and sticks to your hips.
Start seeking the Lord. He is the only one who can make you whole, fill your emptiness, bring you life. He frees us from the stress and pain of this world and fills us with hope. With a yearning and expectant heart, seek Him. The feeling of the Lord's presence is greater than any drug and comes with an eternal promise of His everlasting love.
It is my greatest hope that you find the fire that exists within you. That you are able to stir up the embers and make a great flame that burns for the one and only.
Seek. Find. Never look back.
(*one caveat: seeking shouldn't be reserved for Sundays only, but Sundays are special when you meet with others as a community, the body of Christ. Opening your bible and reading throughout the week will get you on the fast track to truth and healing. God Bless, friends)
